I gotta tv guide from October, 1962, with schedules for the North Carolina region. Here's the Saturday Morning line-up-:7:00 on 11, we got Funtime (cartoons)and at 7:30: Ruff and Reddy; 8:00, Movie on channel 5-:"Bandido" (from '56 with Bob Mitchum)and on 12, Cartoon Carnival. 8:30, on 2: Old Rebel, Pecos Pete; on 6, a light unto my path (religious); and on 11, Felix the Cat (doubtless the ol' translux prod.). 9:00 on 2, 3, 9, and 11 we got Captain Kangaroo (including the Tom Terrific cartoon "Prince Frog"); on 7, Clutch Cargo; on 9 "Deluxe Theater" (cartoons); and on 12, Bugs Bunny (with a run of "Bad Time Story"). 9:30 on 6,7,9,and 12 we take up Ruff and Reddy, yet again. 10:30, Mighty Mouse on 2,3,9,and 11 (including the shorts "the dead end cats", "the jail break", "the hep cat", and "better late than never".) and on 5,Bozo the Clown (cartoons). 11:30 we got Top Cat on 5 with "The Violin player". 12:00 noon, we got Sky King on 2,3,9,and 11. Bugs Bunny again on 5 with "Satan's Waitin'"; and on 9 the variety show Kilgo's Canteen (?)... feels a little like johnland...
The Old Rebel and Pecos Pete! I remember them!! I grew up in Burlington, NC, and their show was the one on which I saw Clutch Cargo, Space Angel, Felix the Cat, and Diver Dan.
I absolutely MISS your paint your own cell kits. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wish that SpĆ¼mco would either release some more, or rerelease the ones that you'd made previously. My god, I LOVE your doodles. The sketches you make while you're on the phone are pretty good too.
I like this little sideline blog...
